Two conversations. Two very different worlds. One powerful reminder: leadership is about momentum — and the courage to keep moving, even when the path ahead is complex.
In this month’s Behind the Numbers – Property Wrap, I spoke with economist Cameron Kusher and buyer’s advocate Cate Bakos to unpack what’s really driving the housing market right now. The headlines don’t tell the full story. From investor sentiment to the return of first-home buyers and growing activity on the urban fringe, it’s a market marked by quiet shifts – and strategic plays.
You can read my summary of the takeaways here, or listen to the podcast here.
I’ve also been thinking about leadership from outside our sector. One standout moment from AREC this year was hearing hospitality icon Will Guidara speak. He didn’t build one of the world’s best restaurants through perfectionism, but by placing radical hospitality and people at the centre of everything.
It’s a timely reminder that true leadership isn’t about ego. It’s about clarity, service, and the ability to create unforgettable experiences. You can read more about Will’s leadership lessons here.
And while we’re on the topic of leadership, I recently had the pleasure of speaking with award-winning leadership coach Tanja Lee on my Future Fit podcast, Spotlight Series – and the conversation was truly enlightening.
We explored why coherence – the alignment of emotional, mental and physical wellbeing – isn’t just a nice-to-have, but the defining leadership capability for the decade ahead.
Tanja shares compelling insights drawn from neuroscience, and most importantly, she shows how leaders can consciously shift from reactive survival mode to a more sustainable, calm and purpose-driven presence – one that builds trust, inspires innovation and elevates team culture.
If you’re navigating complex change, leading through uncertainty, or simply looking to lead with more impact (and less burnout), this episode is well worth a listen.
And finally, I wanted to highlight one of our partners, REI Super – who are the industry super fund created specifically for real estate and property professionals (though open to everyone).
As a not-for-profit fund, REI Super reinvests profits back into member benefits, offering competitive fees, strong long-term returns, flexible investment options, and insurance designed with commission-based incomes in mind.
With over 24,000 members, they combine deep industry knowledge with personalised support to help you make the most of your super.
These are a couple of useful resources they’ve created that I recommend checking out:
