Many of you will know Hayley Mitchell from MitchellPT. With more than 25 years in real estate, and over a decade supporting property managers through training and events, her work is grounded in the realities of the role.
MitchellPT was established in 2014 with a clear purpose – to equip property managers with the structure, skills and confidence they need in what has always been a demanding discipline.
And right now, that discipline is under significant pressure. Client expectations continue to rise. Legislative change shows no sign of slowing. Owners are selling at a high rate. The operational load is heavy, and the emotional load is heavier.
On the ground, Hayley is hearing the same message repeatedly: experienced professionals are stretched to capacity. In the past week alone, three property managers with more than 15 years’ experience told her they were considering leaving the industry. Sadly, this is no longer unusual.
Property management has never been an easy career path, but it is becoming harder.at Bondi over the weekend. Our thoughts are with the Jewish community, families and friends of victims who are grieving such an unimaginable loss.
Moments like this land heavily across the country and they remind us that violence has no place here and that every person in Australia deserves to feel safe where they live, work, and simply go about their day.
From all of us at REIP, our heartfelt condolences go to those affected. We stand with you in sorrow and in solidarity.
While wellbeing is frequently discussed across the entire sector, there is limited data to clearly measure its impact. We hear the anecdotes. We see the signs. But we lack the evidence required to respond with precision.
That is why REIP, in partnership with MitchellPT, is launching a dedicated wellbeing survey for all real estate professionals. We want evidence, not assumptions.
Clear data will help us understand the scale of the challenges our people are facing – and more importantly, where meaningful, practical support is most needed.
Managing stress and wellbeing is not a soft issue. It is a leadership responsibility. If we do not look after our people, they cannot look after our clients.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share it with your team:

The findings will be shared with the wider industry and presented at the MitchellPT PM Reach Conference in October.
Reminder: AMLHUB Webinar
Operational clarity and regulatory preparedness are also part of protecting wellbeing within our businesses.
A reminder that the AMLHUB webinar recording remains available for those who have not yet had the opportunity to watch it, or who would like to revisit key points with their teams.
AML reform continues to evolve, and preparedness reduces uncertainty, both operationally and culturally within your business.
If compliance is on your agenda as you plan ahead, this session offers practical guidance to help you move forward with confidence.
When we support our people and lead with clarity, our industry becomes stronger.
Until next time,
Stay connected.
