Leaders today are being asked to lead, engage and inspire our people in ways we haven’t had to before and many of us are now adapting to the new reality of the hybrid working model. There is a lot of excitement about this new structure, but for some business owners, there is also some trepidation.

One of the ways I’ve tackled this issue in my own business is the introduction of a 9-day fortnight. So far it’s working well for both the business and my employees and I hope this approach helps drive increased ‘workplace stickiness’ in what has become a very tight labour market! On a different note, I want to focus on the real estate industry. We have always been fragmented and seem to lean towards competition rather than collaboration. With the speed at which PropTech solutions are hitting the market, we are one of the few industries that run the risk of technology suppliers replacing us in the future.

Don’t get me wrong, technology has been a game changer for all of us, but we need to stop and think about how we use and share our data. Third-party companies receive information from us for free, then mine it, analyse it and sell it back to us as leads, insights and benchmark reports.
