Just in case you didn’t know, Taylor Swift played three concerts in Melbourne recently, to a record crowd of 96,000 in one show – her largest audience numbers per concert to date. And if you too have been flooded with social media posts from people who attended the concerts globally, you may have noticed that every one of her shows are identical.
To achieve the outstanding levels of performances that she delivers night after night, the connections she creates and the enormous support she has from her millions of Swifties, she has invested in consistency and practiced, practiced, practiced.
We can only imagine the colossal effort required from all involved to bring a global production like the ERAS tour to life and continue to delight her fans from continent to continent.
Taking a leaf out of Taylor Swift’s book, it’s worth reflecting and asking ourselves how much training and practice we are putting in day in and day out to deliver to our clients, our teams and ourselves? If we want to be phenomenal in our own marketplace, what will it take and do we have the commitment to do it?
Doing anything well requires discipline, practice and commitment, so it was wonderful to see the RiSE Leadership conference sell out in the first week. This tells me two things:
- The team behind RiSE are following the Taylor Swift work principles to deliver an amazing and valuable event, and
- The delegates who have registered are prioritising their own their leadership development
Another area of life we can’t afford to take our eye off is our own wellbeing. If we aren’t doing well and taking care of ourselves, any aspirations we might have to be an industry leader are unlikely to succeed.
A few months ago, I interviewed Dr Matt Tredgetsmith for my FutureFitLeadership podcast and he shared 6 healthy habits we can easily start adopting now.
You can listen to the full podcast here.
Lastly, we are starting to hear rumblings that interest rates should be starting to come down in 2024. While I’m not going to spend too much time speculating on when this might happen, I think we can all agree it will be a welcome change when it does happen – we’ll need to watch this space!
Until next time.
