With the recent RBA interest rate drop, the property landscape is clearly shifting – and so too are the demands on leaders in real estate.
In this week’s Future Fit Leadership podcast, I sat down with Holly Ransom – one of Australia’s most dynamic leadership voices. By 30, Holly had interviewed Barack Obama, Richard Branson, and Condoleezza Rice, authored The Leading Edge, and became the youngest-ever director on an AFL board.
What really struck me wasn’t her global success. It was her message on mattering – a principle that transforms the way we lead, how teams perform, and how clients experience our business.
Holly reminded me that mattering isn’t about big budgets or fancy titles. It’s about simple, everyday choices:
- A genuine thank you
- Noticing someone’s effort
- Inviting someone’s voice into the room
In a high-pressure industry, these small acts boost performance, resilience, and retention, and build lasting client loyalty.
She also highlighted that high performers take breaks: “We don’t deliver our best by running on empty – we do it by recharging, so we can show up with energy and clarity.”

Speaking of our industry shifting, Micheal Sheargold has launched a new industry pulse check survey.
I encourage you to take part as understanding where the real estate profession stands – and where it’s headed – is essential for shaping our growth goals.
This short 5-minute survey is designed to capture your unique perspective. All responses are anonymous, and results will be collated into a special report. By participating, you’ll receive a complimentary copy of the report once it’s ready.
You can take the survey here.
And finally, to help you keep you remain informed and connected, there are two more resources I recommend you explore:
Behind the numbers podcast: I’m joined by economist Cameron Kusher and buyer’s advocate Cate Bakos. We go beyond prices and predictions to tackle Australia’s housing shortfall, the building pipeline, and shifting investor sentiment.
Listen now for a timely pulse-check on what’s really shaping the market, and what lies ahead.
PM/One Conference: Fiona Blayney, a national advocate and leader, is bringing together the PM community like never before with a dedicated two-day conference on 14-15 September. More than just an event, it’s a movement to recognise and elevate property management’s critical role in shaping the industry’s future.
Tickets are moving fast but you can still reserve your spot here.
Small acts, informed decisions, and staying connected – these are the levers that will shape your success and the future of our profession.
Until next time,
Stay connected.
